Mufasa trailer: Disney’s prequel tells tales of Lion King’s journey

Disney released the first trailer for “Mufasa: The Lion King,” a prequel to the 2019 blockbuster film “The Lion King,” on Monday.

The upcoming movie will delve into the early life of the lion king and features Beyoncé and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter among its cast.

The one-minute and 32-second trailer offers a glimpse into the lives of Mufasa, voiced by Aaron Pierre, and Scar, voiced by Kelvin Harrison Jr., in the African Pride Lands.

In the film, Beyoncé will reprise her role as Nala from the 2019 version of “The Lion King,” while her daughter Blue Ivy, aged 12, will voice the daughter of King Simba, portrayed by Donald Glover, and Queen Nala.

Directed by Barry Jenkins, with a script by Jeff Nathanson, the movie is scheduled to premiere in theaters on December 20th.

The official synopsis describes the story as exploring the origins of Mufasa, while also depicting Simba’s determination for his cub to follow in his footsteps.

Additionally, Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen will return to voice Timon and Pumbaa, respectively, from the 2019 film.

The voice cast also includes Thandiwe Newton, Anika Noni Rose, Keith David, Mads Mikkelsen, Tiffany Boone, and John Kani as Rafiki.

Told through flashbacks, the movie follows Mufasa’s journey as an orphaned cub who encounters a fellow lion named Taka, setting off an epic adventure as they navigate through challenges and confront a formidable foe.
