In a rigorous enforcement drive, Multan authorities sealed several well-known establishments, including Bata and Honda stores, Bandu Khan Hotel, Zenzi Bar, and Cheese Valley, following the discovery of dengue larvae on their premises. The crackdown comes as part of a zero-tolerance policy against violations of dengue Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as directed by Multan Division Commissioner Mariam Khan and DC Multan Captain (Retd) Rana Rizwan Qadeer.

Under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner General Muhammad Saif, anti-dengue teams carried out extensive inspections across the city. These teams targeted a variety of locations, including the DS Railway Office, Railway Colony, numerous hotels, restaurants, car showrooms, water filtration plants, and even public graveyards. Bata Shoes Store on Abdali Road was notably sealed off after inspectors found garbage accumulation and dengue larvae. Similarly, the Honda Breeze showroom/workshop was sealed due to the presence of larvae in water-logged tires.

This initiative is not just about enforcement but also about raising public awareness. “The presence of standing water is a significant risk factor for dengue propagation, and it’s crucial that both public and private entities adhere strictly to health regulations to prevent an outbreak,” said Dr. Ata-ur-Rahman, Regional Director and District Program Coordinator EP&C.

In addition to the immediate actions taken against SOP violations, the authorities are actively engaging the community through educational seminars aimed at dengue prevention. Dr. Rahman emphasized the importance of community cooperation in the ongoing anti-dengue campaign and highlighted ongoing efforts for vector surveillance and improved coverage of known hotspots.

The latest efforts reflect a city-wide commitment to combat the spread of dengue and protect the health of Multan’s residents, ensuring that preventive measures are in place and strictly followed by all stakeholders.
