Netflix renews Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ for season 2

Netflix has greenlit another installment of veteran filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series, ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’.

On Monday morning, Netflix India’s official Instagram handle confirmed that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut web series, ‘Heeramandi’, will return for a second season.

“Mehfil phir se jamegi, Heeramandi: Season 2 jo aayega,” read the caption accompanying a flash mob announcement video.

The video featured hundreds of dancers in Heeramandi-inspired costumes performing a medley of the series’ songs on Carter Road in Mumbai, India.

The first season of ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’, which explores the stories of courtesans in Lahore’s red-light district during pre-independent India, premiered on Netflix last month.

The eight-episode series stars Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Aditi Rao Hydari, Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, and Sanjeeda Sheikh in lead roles, along with Farida Jalal, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar, Adhyayan Suman, and Taha Shah. It received mixed reviews from viewers and critics alike.
