New footage reveals sun’s “Fluffy” surface

The burning curiosity about our nearest star has been partially satisfied as scientists unveil mesmerizing new footage showcasing the Sun’s surface in unprecedented detail. Captured by the European Space Agency’s Solar Orbiter, the footage offers a breathtaking glimpse into the intricate dynamics and ethereal beauty of our celestial neighbour.

In the captivating video recorded by the Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (EUI) instrument back in September 2023, the Sun appears adorned with delicate hair-like structures composed of charged gas aptly described as “fluffy.” These structures intricately woven by magnetic field lines emanating from the Sun’s core add to the mystique of our solar powerhouse.
