Pakistan Railways set to revive Safari tourist train from Golra to Attock Khurd

    Pakistan Railways is gearing up to reintroduce the Safari Tourist Train, aiming to showcase the cultural heritage and scenic landscapes of the Potohar region. The journey will commence from Golra Station in Islamabad and conclude at Attock Khurd.

    Official sources revealed that the Safari train will embark from Golra Station, passing through Hasan Abdal, Attock, and Attock Khurd Railway stations. They emphasized the historical significance of Attock Khurd, home to the oldest railway museum in the area.

    The main objective behind reintroducing the tourist train is to promote tourism and familiarize travelers with the rich heritage of Pakistan’s railways, thus contributing to the growth of the tourism sector.

    Passengers on the Safari Train will be treated to stunning views of the Potohar landscape, including the Margallah Hills, Sangjani tunnel, and iconic bridges such as Chablal Bridge, Haro Bridge, Ghazi Borotha, and Attock Khurd Bridges.

    Additionally, the Safari Train will cross the historic iron girder bridge over the Indus River, connecting Punjab with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.

    Golra Station, known for its colonial-era history, houses the extensive Islamabad Railway Museum, showcasing the rich heritage of Pakistan Railways with antique steam engines and heritage railway kitchens.

    Upon reaching Attock Khurd Station, passengers will have the chance to explore the scenic beauty and recreational spots along the Indus River.

    The revamped Safari Train promises a luxurious travel experience with carefully designed interiors, delicious onboard cuisine, and provisions for high tea. Enhanced seating arrangements and modern washrooms ensure a comfortable journey.

    Preparations for the Safari Train are nearly complete, with the official launch scheduled for next week. The journey schedule will be announced soon.

    Departures for the Safari Train are planned every Sunday at 9 am, with return trips from Attock at 6:30 pm. Ticket prices vary based on accommodation type, with special discounts offered to students.
