Pakistan reaches number one spot in ICC WTC after defeating Sri-Lanka 2-0

Pakistan has risen to the top of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 rankings after an overwhelming win in the second Test against Sri Lanka.

The Men in Green were in superb form throughout the series, eventually winning 2-0 after a dominant 4-wicket victory in the first Test.

The Pakistani team put on an outstanding display in the second Test, winning by an innings and 222 runs.

Opening batsman Abdullah Shafique stole the show with a superb double-century, while Nauman Ali bowled his way through the Sri Lankan batting section with a remarkable 7-wicket haul.

Pakistan has definitely established itself as a strong force in the World Test Championship with an unblemished record of two wins in two matches.

Following Pakistan’s lead, India is in second place after a win and a tie against the West Indies. Australia is in third place, with a 2-1 series lead in the highly contested Ashes.

Pakistan’s cricket team reached a historic point when they won their fifth Test series against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. Pakistan is currently the most successful visiting team on the island, surpassing Australia and England, both of which had four series triumphs in the past.

Aside from England and Australia, India and South Africa have also demonstrated their dominance in Sri Lanka, with India winning three Test series and South Africa earning two.
