Pakistan thrashed Turkmenistan to keep their place in Billie Jean King Cup

Pakistan kept their place in Asia/Oceania Group 2 after defeating Turkmenistan 2-0 in the Billie Jean King Cup relegation playoff in Kuala Lumpur.

Ushna Suhail and Sara Ibrahim Khan of Pakistan won their singles matches on Saturday against Aisha Bikbulatova and Bahar Toymyradova, respectively.

The doubles match was cancelled due to Pakistan’s unassailable lead after winning the singles rounds.

After the win, Pakistan preserved their place in Asia/Oceania Group 2 and avoided relegation to Group 3.

Pakistan, who were assigned to Pool A, had only one win in five matches prior to today’s playoff. Their lone win in the group round came against Guam.

Pakistan’s team also includes Mehak Khokhar, Amna Qayyum, and Sara Mahboob in addition to Ushna and Sara.
