Pakistani players see improvement in latest ICC T20 rankings

In the latest T20 rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC), several Pakistani players have seen improvements in their positions.

Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, has moved up one spot to secure the fourth position with a rating of 763. He is now just one spot below his teammate and fellow Green Shirts player, wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, who holds the third position.

Babar’s rise in the rankings follows his stellar performance in the recent home series against New Zealand, where he emerged as the highest run-scorer with 125 runs.

However, despite these advancements, no Pakistani player features in the top 50 of the ICC’s T20 batsmen list, which is currently led by India’s Suryakumar Yadav, followed by England’s Phil Salt in second place.

Other notable players in the top 10 T20 batsmen include South Africa’s Aiden Markram, Rilee Rossouw, England’s Jos Buttler, and Dawid Malan.

New Zealand’s Tim Seifert has climbed seven places to equal seventh after his strong performance against Pakistan, accumulating 85 runs in the series.

Similarly, Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman has improved his ranking by 10 places to 62nd after scoring 104 runs in the series against New Zealand.

In the bowling department, Pakistan’s pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi has risen three places to equal 14th following his impressive performance, taking eight wickets across four matches against New Zealand.

Additionally, Imad Wasim, who recently reversed his retirement decision, has jumped 10 places to 22nd in the T20I all-rounders rankings.

There have also been notable improvements in the bowling rankings, with players like Michael Bracewell and Ben Sears advancing their positions.

Overall, while England’s Adil Rashid tops the T20 bowling rankings, players like Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga and West Indies’ Akeal Hosein hold the second and third positions, respectively.

In the all-rounders category, Pakistan’s Shadab Khan ranks as the 10th best, with Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan leading the pack.
