Pakistan’s gold imports drop by 76 pc in December FY23-24

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, gold imports declined by 6.02% in the first half of fiscal year 2023-24.

Imports totaled $13.562 million between July and December 2023, down from $14.431 million the previous year. Quantity-wise, 240 kg gold was imported, representing a 0.54% rise.

Notably, December 2023 had a large year-on-year fall of 76.06%, with imports for $0.780 and a 75% decrease in quantity to 12 kilograms from December 2022. Imports in December 2023 fell by 79.99% in value and 80% in quantity compared to November 2023.

Notably, the country’s overall trade deficit fell by 34.29% over the first half of the fiscal year.
