Pakistan’s second communication satellite ‘PAKSAT MM1’ ready for launch

The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) is on the brink of a significant milestone, with the imminent launch of Pakistan’s second communication satellite, PAKSAT MM1. This event, scheduled for Thursday, marks a pivotal step in SUPARCO’s broader mission to enhance digital connectivity across the nation, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

PAKSAT MM1 is expected to revolutionize the landscape of communication within Pakistan. By facilitating better TV broadcasting, enhancing cellular phone service, and expanding broadband internet access, the satellite aims to bridge the digital divide and promote technological advancement throughout the country. The satellite, a product of intensive research and development by Pakistani scientists and engineers, is slated to begin its service in August of this year.

SUPARCO’s vision encompasses the creation of an advanced digital Pakistan, and the launch of PAKSAT MM1 is a crucial component of this strategy. This launch is notably the second space mission undertaken by SUPARCO within the month of May, acknowledging the agency’s commitment to rapid progress in space technology.

In addition to the impending launch of PAKSAT MM1, Pakistan has also recently achieved another significant feat with the launch of its first lunar satellite, iCube Qamar. This satellite represents a leap forward in Pakistan’s space exploration capabilities, further highlighting the nation’s growing prowess in the field of space technology.
