Palestinians face another massacre in Tal as-Sultan area, several burned to death, babies decapitated

Israeli forces attacked a camp for internally displaced people in a so-called “safe zone” in Rafah, southern Gaza, killing at least 35 Palestinians, many of whom were women and children, and wounding dozens more.

Witnesses reported that Israeli forces deployed missiles in the attack on the Tal as-Sultan area. “They burned people alive… They burned an entire block in Tal as-Sultan,” one survivor told Al Jazeera. Videos and pictures of people holding decapitated babies are also surfacing online showing the plight and helplessness of the people of Gaza.

The Government Media Office in Gaza stated that Israel used a 2,000-pound (907kg) bomb in the attack, marking the 10th Israeli assault on a UN-affiliated displacement center in the past 24 hours, resulting in at least 190 deaths.

Hamas condemned Israel’s “heinous massacre,” saying the raids showed “complete defiance and disregard” for the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) order for Israel to halt military operations in Gaza.

Israel confirmed the attack, stating it struck a Hamas compound in Rafah and acknowledged reports of civilian casualties from a resulting fire. The incident is under investigation.
