PCB appoints Gary Kirsten, Gillespie as coaches for white, red-ball cricket

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former cricket legends Gary Kirsten from South Africa and Jason Gillespie from Australia as head coaches for the men’s national cricket team.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi made the announcement during a press conference in Lahore.

Kirsten will oversee white-ball cricket, including ODIs and T20Is, while Gillespie will focus on red-ball cricket.

Azhar Mahmood has also been named as the assistant coach across all formats.

Kirsten, who led India to a World Cup victory in 2011, has previously coached South Africa’s men’s team and various club and franchise teams.

Gillespie, with experience coaching Zimbabwe and Australian domestic teams, brings his expertise to the Pakistani setup.

This comes after previous departures of Grant Bradburn, Mickey Arthur, and Andrew Puttick, with Mohammad Hafeez briefly taking over coaching duties following Pakistan’s challenging tours of Australia and New Zealand.
