PDM announces sit-in outside SC against CJP Bandial on Monday

Chief Justice, we're not ready to accept the 3-2 ruling, hear us out, says Fazlur Rehman

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced protest and a significant sit-in in front of the Supreme Court on Monday.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, the PDM leader said that it has been stated that Imran Khan should not be detained in any case and that he should also not be arrested if a case is unknown.

When responding to the court’s decision to free Imran Khan, the PDM leader remarked that it was obvious where the judiciary stands and how it has been making judgements that go beyond the law and the constitution.

PDM chief questioned whether Nawaz Sharif, a three-time prime minister, had received a similar concession.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said, “The homes of the Army Chief and Corps Commander were being attacked, the monuments to those martyrs sacrificed their lives defending the country were being toppled, the state’s security institutions are being abused, and the court is there for their protection.”

He stated that they decided to protest over the Supreme Court’s actions. “Speaking on behalf of the PDM leadership, I urge the entire country to depart for Islamabad on Monday, May 15. A sizable sit-in will be held in front of the Supreme Court, and there will be a significant protest.”

“Chief Justice, we’re not ready to accept the 3-2 ruling, hear us out,” Fazlur Rehman said.

The PDM leader stated that while they have demonstrated peacefully in the past and will continue to do so, it is important to keep in mind that “they will reply to anyone who attempts to raise their hand or casts a cross at us with sticks, slaps and blows.”

In response to the query, would protests be permitted in Islamabad even if Section 144 is implemented? The PDM chief stated that they were over the issue, “it is no longer our responsibility”.
