PHC asks CM, Speaker KP for response on reserved seats case

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed the Chief Minister and the Speaker of the provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to respond within a week after issuing notices on contempt of court petitions regarding the failure to administer oaths to elected members on reserved seats.

Justices S.M Attique Shah and Waqar Ahmed oversaw the proceedings, with the applicant’s attorney presenting arguments before the court.

The applicant stated that despite the detailed verdict being issued and the passage of 14 days, elected members had not been sworn in.

Justice inquired as to why the KP government had not proceeded with administering the oath to the elected members following the court’s detailed verdict.

Subsequently, the court served notices to Ali Amin Gandapur and the Speaker of the provincial assembly in this matter.
