Photos from Badar Khalil’s visit to Pakistan

Yesterday, veteran actress Rubina Ashraf took to her Facebook to share a few photos with veteran actress and her best friend from the industry, Badar Khalil, also popularly known as Bado Aapa.

“Our beautiful Bado – so happy to be together again” was how Rubina Ashraf’s caption went, with Asimyar Tiwana and Farida Shabbir also making it to the photos.

Badar Khalil moved to Canada in 2021 to live with her sons after having given almost 50 years as an actress to the Pakistani drama industry.

In 2016, she bid goodbye to the showbiz fraternity forever over a row with Fawad Khan and Sultana Siddiqui, claiming that she was disrespected by the two by being asked to leave the front row at an award ceremony so that Fawad Khan could sit at the front and steal the limelight.

Taking it as an insult to her long, successful and respectful career, Khalil vowed not to act again.

Badar Khalil entered the Pakistani drama industry in the 1970s, appearing in some of the most important Pakistani dramas such as ‘Half Plate’, ‘Teesra Kinara’, ‘Ankahi’, ‘Tanhaiyaan’ and ‘Dhoop Kinare’.

Shehzad Khalil, who directed ‘Tanhaiyaan’ was her husband, along with whom she lived quite an affluent life. However, life did not turn out to be all colours and rainbows for Bado when Shehzad Khalil passed away at a young age, leaving Bado to live her life alone and work extremely hard to bring up her children.

It is therefore that Badar Khalil is considered an actress with the largest number of dramas to her name, such as ‘Parosi’, ‘Tum Se Kehna Tha’, ‘Zara Si Aurat’, ‘Farar’, ‘Tere Siwa’, ‘Singhar’, ‘Chandni Raatein’, ‘Khaali Hath’, ‘Vasl’ and ‘Malal’ to name only a few.
