PM Imran’s ‘trump card’ is resignation, says Maryam

PML-N leaders Hamza, Maryam mobilize workers day before long march

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Vice-President Maryam Nawaz on Friday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s only “trump card” is his resignation, referring to the premier’s oft-repeated promise of surprising the opposition before the no-confidence motion.

While addressing a rally in Lahore, Nawaz responded to PM Khan’s call to the nation to support him ahead of the no-confidence motion saying the people of Pakistan will “definitely come out to rally but only to oust him and his government.”

The long march will leave from Model Town in the afternoon today (Saturday) and will reach the federal capital in three days. The participants will have night stays at Gujranwala, Sarai-e-Alamgir and Rawalpindi before entering Islamabad. It will pass through GT Road where a large number of people are expected to join the march.

Both the political scions of the Sharif family — Maryam Nawaz and Hamza Shehbaz — have mobilized the party workers a day before PML-N’s planned long march. Maryam and Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz delivered fiery speeches at the party secretariat in Model Town.

Maryam and Hamza will lead the caravan and will also address the workers in different cities. After leaving from Model Town, the march will have a stopover at Data Darbar while a Jalsa will be held at Shahdara. Later, PML-N will also hold Jalsa at Gujranwala — another stronghold of the party.

“It is the place from where Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif led mammoth public rallies. Our caravan will once again leave from the same place for getting the respect of the ballot,” said Maryam while addressing the charged crowd. She claimed the journey of GT Road once again will put Pakistan on the path of development. “Get ready and fasten your seat belts. The country can land into ‘old Pakistan’ anytime,” she said while mocking the mantra of ‘Naya Pakistan’ repeatedly used by PTI.

Maryam also said that Imran Khan is not calling the public for his support but he is calling someone else. “No one will come now to rescue you,” she said. He used to say that he will not give NRO but now he is begging for the same, she added.

“Neither international conspiracy nor the opposition parties have ended Imran Khan’s rule,” Maryam said. “PM Imran is being ousted only due to the nation’s curses. People beg me to spare them from him whenever I go to Islamabad.”

Talking about the national exchequer, she added that the premier fears people finding out about the money he has stolen.

“He is afraid of the money he has stolen in Bani Gala,” Maryam remarked, adding that “no one will come to his rescue now.”

Earlier, Hamza Shehbaz also delivered a fiery speech, saying, “We faced jails during the regime of military dictator Parvez Musharaf but Imran Khan Niazi has crossed all limits.” The entire PML-N leadership was put behind the bars but “he failed to change the loyalties of our workers,” he said. He further added that PM Khan had ruined the economy of Pakistan due to his failed policies.
