PM Shehbaz Sharif reaffirms commitment to just struggle of Palestinians

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause on Saturday, stating the country’s unwavering commitment to the just struggle of the Palestinian people.

This statement came through a post on his X handle, where he shared insights from his recent telephonic conversation with Ireland’s Prime Minister Simon Harris.

During their discussion, Prime Minister Sharif expressed his appreciation for the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) decision, which mandates Israel to cease its ongoing assault on Gaza and Rafah. He praised this ruling as a significant step towards upholding international law and protecting the rights of Palestinians.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Sharif commended Ireland’s recent decision to recognize the state of Palestine. He highlighted that this move not only sends a powerful message of hope and solidarity to the Palestinians, who have long suffered under Israel’s severe actions, but also serves as an important gesture in advancing the Palestinian cause.

He expressed optimism that this decision by Ireland would inspire other countries to take similar steps in recognizing Palestine and supporting its people.

In addition to his remarks on Palestine, Prime Minister Sharif also drew attention to the plight of the people of Kashmir. He expressed his hope that the international community would extend the same level of attention and support to the oppressed Kashmiris, who have been subjected to a brutal occupation and the denial of their fundamental human rights for over seven decades.

Sharif acknowledged the parallels between the struggles of the Palestinian and Kashmiri people, urging the global community to address these long-standing injustices with urgency and compassion.
