PM Shehbaz Sharif to attend Islamic Summit Conference in Gambia

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to travel to Gambia on May 4 to partake in the 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The summit, slated for May 4 and 5, aims to address pressing international matters, including the situation in Gaza. Accompanying the Prime Minister on this diplomatic endeavor are Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Atta Tarr, highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to multilateral engagements.

According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the Islamic Summit presents an opportune platform for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to advocate for global issues such as the plight of Gaza, the Kashmir conflict, Islamophobia, terrorism, and other pertinent challenges. Additionally, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with heads of state from Islamic nations, fostering cooperation and solidarity among member countries.

In conjunction with the summit, there will be a gathering of OIC foreign ministers on May 2 and 3, with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar representing Pakistan. This ministerial meeting underscores Pakistan’s proactive stance in addressing regional and international concerns within the framework of the OIC. Through constructive dialogue and collaborative efforts, Pakistan seeks to contribute meaningfully to the deliberations and outcomes of both the Islamic Summit Conference and the OIC foreign ministers’ meeting.
