PML-N’s Mushahid Hussain Syed demands general amnesty for political prisoners

On Friday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed called for a general amnesty for political prisoners, including the imprisoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder.

“I was the first to demand the release of the PTI chairman, and now everyone should be pardoned after the general elections,” Mushahid Hussain Syed stated while addressing the Senate of Pakistan.

The PML-N legislator mentioned that he had previously advocated for the release of Nawaz Sharif during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s tenure and was now urging forgiveness for all, including the PTI founder.

Additionally, he proposed that reserved seats in the assemblies should be allocated to the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).

Regarding missing persons, Mushahid Hussain Syed informed that more than 500 MQM-P workers who were reported missing have been recovered, with only 13 still unaccounted for. He also mentioned the presentation of a report on missing persons in Balochistan to the committee.

Currently, the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is serving jail terms related to various cases, including cipher, toshakhana, and an ‘un-Islamic’ marriage case in Adiala Jail.

After the election results, Mushahid Hussain Syed highlighted that PTI had emerged as the largest political party, suggesting that Nawaz Sharif should demonstrate magnanimity and extend his hand.

He further recommended the inclusion of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the system and advised his party leadership to visit the PTI’s founder.
