President Zardari calls for national unity against terrorism in Balochistan

President Asif Zardari chaired a pivotal meeting aimed at fostering a unified national narrative against terrorism, emphasizing the imperative of concerted action to combat this menace.

The gathering, held at the Chief Minister’s Office in Quetta, saw the participation of key figures including Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, Balochistan Governor Jafar Khan Mandukhel, and provincial ministers.

During the session, President Zardari received a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing law and order situation in Balochistan along with updates on ongoing developmental initiatives. Addressing the assembly, President Zardari underscored the importance of engaging with all political factions to chart a path forward for Balochistan’s future, lamenting the disruptive efforts of certain elements aimed at destabilizing the province and the nation at large.

He emphasized the intrinsic link between terrorism and drug trafficking, highlighting the detrimental impact on the country’s economy and stressing the urgent need for remedial measures to ensure economic stability.

Additionally, President Zardari directed the formulation of a robust strategy to generate employment opportunities in border areas and reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to combat terrorism through continued law enforcement operations.

The meeting culminated in the decision to initiate consultations towards crafting a unified national narrative against terrorism, symbolizing a concerted effort to address this pressing issue. Furthermore, President Zardari advocated for enhanced cooperation between Balochistan and Sindh provinces across various public interest domains, emphasizing joint collaboration to address economic deficiencies and promote development initiatives.

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti echoed President Zardari’s sentiments, emphasizing the challenges faced by the provincial government in governance, environmental sustainability, and law enforcement. He called for accelerated disbursement of federal funds allocated for developmental projects and reiterated the province’s earnest commitment to peace-building efforts.
