Provision of internet service, major court order has arrived

Sindh High Court has issued restraining order ordering uninterrupted provision of internet service to all citizens till elections.

According to details, hearing was held in Sindh High Court on petition against repeated shutdown and interruption of internet service in country.

Dorkani bench headed by Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi heard application, court was told that on December 17, January 7 and January 20, internet service and access to social media remained suspended across country.

Gibran Nasir Advocate said that internet service has been disrupted for several days continuously across country. It has been stated in petition that unwarranted shutdown and interruption of internet service has made it difficult for candidates to conduct election campaigns.

Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of IT and Communications and PTA have been made parties in petition and it is requested that parties should be instructed not to interfere in access of citizens to social media until the general elections.
