PTI website blocked ahead polls

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has raised concerns, stating that its party’s website has been blocked within Pakistan ahead of the upcoming general elections on February 8, 2024. The party has demanded an explanation from the authorities.

In an effort to address potential confusion among voters and facilitate access to election-related information, PTI had introduced an online portal on its official website, insaf.pk, along with a backup site, pticandidates.com.

PTI, which has nominated its candidates as independents with various electoral symbols, took to its official social media account to tag the official handles of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), interim Information Minister Murtaza Solangi, and interim IT Minister Umar Saif.

The party’s post questioned the authorities, asking for an explanation on why PTI’s websites were blocked in Pakistan. It also pointed out that people could still access symbol information from Imran Khan’s Facebook page.

The move comes in the context of a fake web portal, resembling the one launched by PTI, which was providing false information to voters about candidates purportedly backed by PTI.
