Punjab bans dumping animal waste in canals and streams

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, a ban has been imposed on throwing animal waste into canals and drains in Lahore and across the province.

A special meeting was chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, attended by Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Provincial Ministers Uzma Bukhari and Sohaib Ahmed Bhatti, Special Assistants Rashid Nasrullah and Zeeshan Malik, the Chief Secretary, IG Punjab Police, and other officials.

The meeting reviewed Eid-ul-Adha preparations and the security situation across the province.

Punjab police deploys 40000 for Eid security

A ban was imposed under Section 144 on dumping animal waste in canals and drains, and on the illegal business of roasting trotters during Eid-ul-Adha.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered the activation of control rooms at the provincial, divisional, district, and tehsil levels.

During the briefing, it was stated that in Lahore, workers will collect animal waste in biodegradable bags from door to door.

After the sacrifice, the city’s roads will be washed, lime will be applied, and spraying will be done.

It was also informed that 294 sale points for animals have been established in Punjab, and measures will be taken to prevent animal waste from being dumped in drains and manholes.

During the meeting, a report on security arrangements for 2,600 mosques and 900 Eidgahs in Lahore and across the province was presented.

Cameras and walk-through gates will be installed to monitor gatherings.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordpered the enforcement of security SOPs and instructed the installation of mist fans and regular fans in Eidgahs due to the heat.

She also ordered the inspection of swings and slides in parks for children.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized regular checking of swings in parks to ensure safety standards and increase security where necessary, ensuring the protection of lives and property. No one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz further stated that the ban on the illegal use of loudspeakers and display of weapons should be ensured, and foolproof security arrangements should be made for cattle markets, bazaars, and markets.

Cleaning, provision of sheds, clean drinking water, and spraying should be ensured in cattle markets.

No new schemes for Punjab police this year
