Raid Bani Gala to recover cypher

Dar says Azam Khan said he handed over cypher to Imran

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Saturday said that former prime minister Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence should be raided to recover the “missing” copy of the diplomatic cypher that carries the details of the purported “foreign conspiracy” against his now fallen government.

“I would like to ask the federal government to raid Bani Gala just like the US government raided the residence of former president Trump to discover a cipher from there,” she said while addressing a press conference at the PML-N Secretariat in Model Town. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Auranbzeb and other leaders of the PML-N were present there.

“You [Imran Khan] are the real Mir Jafar and

Mir Sadiq,” she alleged.

Maryam said Imran had the “letter” to wave it in rallies but “does not have it to show it to the people”. “You played with the country while playing your games,” she added.

When asked as to why Imran Khan was not being arrested, she said that Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah could better explain it. “The objection raised by Maryam is right but this fact must also be considered that it is not the PML-N’s government in the center; it is a coalition government and we have to listen to every other party’s opinion,” said Rana Sanaullah.

He said that “the cabinet has decided to try Imran Khan under Article 6 for breaching the constitution and damaging the state institution and the country. We will take it up in parliament in a day or so”.

“We will try this man under Article 6 with consent of the parliament,” he added.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that former principal secretary to PM Azam Khan said that the cipher was handed over to the then PM [Imran Khan].

Dar said it was now “established” through the audio leaks that the former opposition – now the government – was not responsible for any conspiracy, but rather the PTI was. “We will be failing in national duty and oath if we don’t take appropriate action,” he added.
