Rain in upper parts, snowfall in mountains expected: Met Department

Leh coldest area with -13 Celsius temperature, Skardu -10, Ziarat, Astore -7 and Rawlakot recorded -4

The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in the upper parts of the country and snowfall in the mountains.

According to the Meteorological Department, the cold wave entered Balochistan after a long dry season and the western winds will show their effect on the upper and middle areas from tomorrow. Rain and snowfall are expected in many areas of Balochistan, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand and Kohistan.

According to the Meteorological Department rain is expected in Islamabad, Potohar, Lahore, Sialkot, Multan and other areas of Punjab while Sukkur, Larkana and Jacobabad in Sindh are also expected to receive light rain. Light rain and snowfall are expected in Quetta, Chaman, Ziarat, Zhob, Gwadar, Panjgur, Nokandi and Chaghi.

According to the Meteorological Department rain is likely to reduce the intensity of fog and the temperature is likely to decrease by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius.

Leh in Kashmir remained the coldest area with a temperature minus 13, Skardu recorded minus 10, Ziarat and Astore minus 07, Rawlakot minus 04, Gilgit, Dir, Malam Jabba, Kalat, Quetta and Kalat recorded minus 03 while Peshawar recorded zero, Islamabad 01, Karachi 12 and Lahore recorded 04 degree Celsius.
