Raja Riaz demands Imran Khan’s removal from party chairmanship

The opposition leader in the National Assembly Raja Riaz has urged that Imran Khan be removed from his position as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman.

He recommended PTI vice-chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi hold a party meeting to remove Khan from the position “because his thoughts are anti-Pakistan and he is fanning terrorism” while speaking at a press conference on Monday in Faisalabad.

During his four years in office, he claimed, Khan engaged in corruption through former chief minister Usman Buzdar and his wife Bushra Bibi’s friend.

He suggested that party leaders elect a new chairman during the meeting after Khan is dismissed and claimed that Khan was recruiting young people for terrorist activity.

According to him, the public is aware that PTI activists wounded more than 80 police officers and damaged police cars at Khan’s direction.

Riaz warned that there would be a conflict between the PTI and other parties if Qureshi did not act.

He requested Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to enhance the free distribution of flour to worthy families from the current limit of three bags of 10 kg to six bags to help more people during Ramadan.
