Rana Sanaullah gets another key ministry

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has been assigned the additional responsibility of overseeing the Ministry for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC). This development was formalized through an official notification issued recently.

Prior to this appointment, the role of IPC minister was held by Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal. With the new assignment, Rana Sanaullah has also been accorded the status of a federal minister, further enhancing his responsibilities within the government.

The decision to appoint Rana Sanaullah as the Adviser on Political and Public Affairs was approved last month by President Asif Ali Zardari, following the recommendation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This move reflects the confidence placed in Sanaullah’s capabilities to manage multiple significant roles.

In addition to his new duties at the IPC, Rana Sanaullah has been appointed as the head of a newly established committee focused on social media legislation. This committee formation was announced by Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar during a press conference in Islamabad. Tarar stated that many countries have already implemented laws to regulate social media, highlighting the importance of such measures.

The committee on social media legislation comprises several federal ministers, including Azam Nazeer Tarar, Attaullah Tarar, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and Shiza Fatima. Their collective efforts will aim to formulate comprehensive policies to govern social media use, ensuring responsible and secure online interactions within Pakistan.

These appointments and the formation of the committee underscore the government’s proactive approach to addressing both inter-provincial coordination and the challenges posed by the evolving digital landscape.
