Razia: is the story of every woman!

Razia, an express entertainment
production that airs every Thursday at
8 p.m. on Express Entertainment is a
heart-wrenching story of a young girl
called Razia Salem (Momal Sheikh).

Directed by Mohsin Ali, the series has
a great and strong storyline.

It is the sad story of all women in our
culture who are dominated by
patriarchy. Razia (Mahira Khan) is the
storyteller, and narrator, Razia (Momal
Sheikh) is the girl mistreated by her
inlaws for being unable to give birth to
a boy and Razia is the child girl born
to Razia (Momal Sheikh.)

As Razia (Mahira Khan) attains the
first position in Intermediate, her
brother when asked how he felt about

it is angry rather than feeling proud
reflecting upon the narrow and
conservative mindset of the men of
our society!

Mahira Khan (Razia the narrator)
plays the lead role emerging as a
strong and courageous woman who is
not afraid of the bad men out there!
She is bold and outspoken! She gives
other women the inspiration to fight for
their rights.

‘Yeh tumhari or meri kahaani hai.
(This story belongs to me and you)
Hum bet ion ko linda rakhtey hain
taakey inhi roz dafna sakain.’

(We keep our daughters alive so that
we can bury them alive every day.)
The cinematography of the drama
series is fantastic. From the sets to the
costumes, everything is fabulous.
I am going to talk about the OST in
particular.

The music is composed by Adnan
Bhol and Ahad Niyani and the OST is
sung by Fatiha Hashmi and Adnan
Dhol.

The lyrics are beautiful and convey a
powerful message! The soundtrack is
from Cinderella.

‘Bola kai dhaknon mai dhoonday hai
hum

(We look in bottle caps)

Hathon mai thaamay jugnoo raat
dhoondtay hain’

(Holding fireflies in our hands, we look
for the night )

Uth baand qamar, kaisa hai darr
(Be fearless)

Har khawaab tera to poora kar
(Fulfill all your dreams)

‘Toon hai qaid haseen pinjaray mei
(You are imprisoned in a beautiful
cage)

Na shehzaaday ka intizaar karoon, dil
mera

(My heart no longer years for a
handsome prince)

The song celebrates women's power.
It sends the message of freedom of
speech for women. Education is the
key to solving all the problems that
women face in a male-chauvinist
society. Women have been caged, and
imprisoned by the norms of the largely
patriarchal society.

The lyrics and music are mesmerising
and hypnotic. One cannot help but
hum along with the song! It is so
addictive.

For fans of music, particularly classical
and Urdu songs, this song is the one
for you! So download it before time
runs out! A great effort on behalf of the
music team! The song is definitely on

my bucket list. And I hope it is on
yours too!
