Real estate giant Al-Kabir ventures into news media with channel acquisition

Recently the renowned Pakistani real estate firm, Al Kabir Developers, has made an acquisition by taking ownership of the News One and Waseb channels. This move seems to indicate a growing trend where real estate companies find it essential to have a presence in the news media landscape to effectively manage their interests within the real estate sector.

Initially, reports had suggested that Chaudhry Aurangzeb of Al Kabir Town was considering the purchase of all three channels, which included TV One, News One, and Waseb. These channels were previously owned by advertising magnate Taher A Khan. However, the latest confirmation indicates that TV One will remain under the ownership of the Interflow group.

Reports from Karachi reveal that Omar Ahmed has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and will soon assume his responsibilities in Lahore.

Al-Kabir Developers, since its establishment in 2016, has rapidly risen to prominence. They have evolved from single building projects to comprehensive housing and community development endeavors. Their successful introduction of the 3-marla housing scheme has garnered particular attention.

Under the leadership of Chairman Chaudhry Aurangzeb, Al-Kabir Developers has a track record of successfully delivering nearly all the projects they have undertaken.

News One, an Urdu-language TV channel based in Karachi, has been a part of this acquisition. It was launched on November 27, 2007, and is owned by Air Waves Media Ltd, a subsidiary of the Interflow Group, which also possesses TV One, Waseb TV, and FM91.
