Red alert to post offices, courier offices by intelligence agencies

A red alert has been issued to all post offices and courier offices by the agencies following the delivery of threatening letters to high-profile personalities.

Sources reveal that stringent measures are being implemented, whereby any letter addressed to a high-profile individual will undergo thorough scrutiny. These letters will not be opened immediately but will instead be carefully examined from various angles before being allowed to proceed for posting. Furthermore, the names and parentage written on top of the letters will be cross-checked to verify their authenticity.

The decision to heighten security protocols comes in light of recent incidents where eight judges of the Islamabad High Court received threatening letters containing suspicious powder. Concerns have escalated after the discovery of arsenic powder in letters sent to prominent figures.

As part of the ongoing investigation by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity of post offices. However, thus far, no significant leads have been gleaned from the surveillance footage.

It is noteworthy that judges from both the Islamabad and Lahore High Courts have reported receiving threatening letters, underscoring the gravity of the situation and the need for enhanced security measures.
