Saleem Meraj and Qaiser Piya to star in upcoming film ‘Khel’

Project shot in Islamabad, set to release later this year

Actor Saleem Meraj is undoubtedly one of the most versatile actors of Pakistan. A character actor who is roped in for both dramas and films for his spectacular performing skills, Saleem Meraj started his career with artistic telefilms in the 90s, but has lately been observed giving equally wonderful performances in some commercial projects as well, such as ‘Kaash Mein Teri Beti Na Hoti’, ‘Mann Mayal’, ‘Tarap’, ‘Ulloo Baraaye Farokht Nahi’ and ‘Alif’. The actor has also done numerous Pakistani films including ‘Zibaah Khana’, ‘Saawan’, ‘Pari’ and ‘Na Maloom Afraad’.

Recently, a production house took to Instagram to share a photo of Saleem Meraj along with theatre actor, Qaiser Piya. The production house also said that the still is from an upcoming film titled ‘Khel’ which is set to release later this year. It was interesting to see an Urdu-speaking drama and film actor and a Punjabi theatre actor working together on a project, which has also made fans curious regarding the results the film will yield for its unique collaboration.

The film is probably being shot in Islamabad, where the production house is based. River View Films, as it is called, is known for having produced classics like ‘African Odyssey’ and ‘Darwaza Khula Rakhna’ back in the 90s for Pakistan Television. From the two, ‘Darwaza Khula Rakhna’ is still remembered for incorporating elements of mystery and for marking singer Humaira Arshad’s entry into the drama industry, while other top-notch actors such as Mishi Khan also made it to its cast.
