Sheikh Rashid confirms no communication with PTI founder Imran Khan

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, the leader of the Awami Muslim League (AML) and former federal minister, categorically stated that he has had no communication with Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), nor with any other member of the PTI.

Speaking to reporters outside the anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi regarding the PTI, Sheikh Rashid stated that any insight into PTI’s internal discussions would be best provided by PTI Senator Shibli Faraz. He highlighted that the position of Deputy Prime Minister does not exist in the constitution, clarifying that it is a construct specific to the Jati Omra framework.

Furthermore, Sheikh Rashid expressed concerns about the economic trajectory of the country, predicting potential financial downturns in the next two months. He lamented the current state of affairs, citing the distress of industrialists and investors amidst ongoing challenges.

Notably, Sheikh Rashid drew attention to the delayed procurement of wheat, exacerbating the nation’s agricultural and economic woes.

In addition, he underscored the reluctance of international lenders to extend loans to Pakistan and advocated for the release of individuals whose allegations remain unproven. Sheikh Rashid called for the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to promptly investigate the wheat scandal, urging swift action to address the situation.
