Sindh police withdraw cases against Senator Azam Swati

The Sindh police dropped charges filed against Senator Azam Swati on Wednesday in the districts of Larkana, Qambar Shahdadkot, and Kashmore.

Swati’s attorney Abdul Rauf Korai claimed that the court of the judicial magistrate and civil judge Naseerabad had received the cancellation report of the cases that had been filed by the police.

The cases were closed by the police in three districts of the province on the inspector general’s (IG) directives.

The senator will likely once again be turned over to the Islamabad Police after the judicial magistrate and civil judge give their decisions regarding the police report.

Swati was scheduled to be produced in the court of the judicial magistrate and civil judge Naseerabad today upon completion of his three-day physical remand.

The PTI leader was detained on November 27 by the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime unit for insulting the military on the social media platform Twitter.

Cases were subsequently filed against the PTI leader in Balochistan and Sindh. All of the cases were, however, dismissed by the Balochistan High Court, and last week, the Sindh police arrested him in Quetta.
