Sindh University students from Thatta attend international conference on English literature and linguistics

The students of the Sindh University Campus Thatta got a golden opportunity to participate in the 2nd international conference on English literature and linguistics titled, Empowering Children’s Literature In Greater Pakistan held last week in Hamdard University Karachi.

Thatta the coastal district of Sindh is otherwise considered a remote and underprivileged area of the country but the participation of around ten students of Sindh University Thatta campus English department has proved that the underprivileged district is now on the path of progress and prosperity.

The students including Faizan Ismail Memon, Sehar Akbar, Saima Shabir, Farwa Shah, Gulham Ali, Tabriz Anza, Laraib Memon, and Rafique Jokhio submitted their research papers regarding methods of improvement in children’s literature they also shared views regarding the diminishing trend of book reading among children.

Besides students, Mr. Shah Fahad, Miss Uneza Memon, and Mr Raja Dahar represented the teaching faculty of the campus at the international conference participated by students and tutors of various Universities of the country. Pro-Vice Chancellor of Thatta Campus, Prof Dr. Rafique Ahmed Memon congratulated and appreciated the enormous and tireless efforts of students and faculty members.

In his message to the students, he said: “Dear students we want to take a moment to extend our heartfelt congratulations to you for your exceptional performance at the 2nd International Conference on Linguistics and Literature under the theme of ‘Empowering Children’s Literature in greater Pakistan’ at Hamdard university”. He further said that his passion, hard work and dedication truly shone through, and he being the head of the campus and a literati was proud of his students.

Sharing his experience one of the illustrious students of the team that participated in the event Faizan Ismail Memon said that it was a unique experience as he and his colleagues were up against highly skillful students from different parts of the country who were there to project their work and ideas.

Sehar Akber was of the view that these events would provide a platform to students who wanted to showcase their skills at a mega level but could not find opportunities due to financial constraints. The elated students got a tremendous welcome from their colleagues when they returned to their campus after this marvelous achievement.
