Six Mine workers trapped following coalmine explosion

The Deputy Commissioner of the region disclosed that six individuals became trapped following an explosion in a mine, with four of them successfully rescued alive during ongoing operations. DC Javedullah Mehsud confirmed that efforts are underway to locate and extract the remaining two individuals. Those rescued have been swiftly transported to hospital for urgent medical care.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation, as authorities seek to determine its origin. This incident evokes memories of a tragic event in 2022 when six coal miners lost their lives in a gas explosion in the Shahrag coal field area of Harnai district.

According to rescue officials, the collapse of the coal mine following the explosion left six laborers trapped. Levies officials responded promptly to the incident, mobilizing rescue efforts in collaboration with the district administration.

The accident occurred in the mine operated by contractor Haji Dilawar Khan in Shahrg Tarkh Tung, where coal extraction activities were ongoing. The laborers, hailing from the Shangla area of Swat, were identified as Naseeb Gul, Sarfraz, Najeebullah, Rehman Ullah, Ghani Rehman, and Bacha Khan.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Quddus Bizenjo has taken cognizance of the incident, ordering a thorough investigation into the matter.

This tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the recent Orakzai mine blast, which claimed the lives of nine laborers.
