SLB kept me hungry during ‘Heeramandi’: Aditi Rao Hydari

Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari, known for her role as Bibbojaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’, shared insights into working with the veteran filmmaker, revealing that he once kept her hungry during a shoot.

In a recent interview, Hydari praised Bhansali’s passion for cinema and his extensive knowledge of various art forms involved in filmmaking.

She described the experience of working on a Bhansali set as one of complete surrender, emphasizing the need to absorb everything like a sponge.

Recalling a specific incident, Hydari mentioned how Bhansali instructed her to stay hungry for a scene that required a simmering sense of injustice.

Despite the perception of actors being delicate, Bhansali saw beyond that and believed in bringing out different aspects of their performances.

Bhansali’s digital debut, ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’, delves into the lives of courtesans in Lahore’s red-light district during pre-independent India.

The eight-episode series, featuring a stellar cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal, premiered on Netflix on May 1.

Earlier reports suggested that Bhansali had considered casting Pakistani actors Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan in the series.
