Special court summons Rana Sanaullah for indictment in drugs case

A special court in Lahore has summoned the Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on June 25 for indictment in a drug case.

Sanaullah was arrested in July 2018 during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s tenure by the Anti-Narcotics Force and reportedly 15 kilograms of heroin were recovered from his vehicle.

In a written order pertaining to the last hearing released today, the court quoted Sanaullah’s lawyer as arguing that the charge may be framed on the next date of the hearing because the accused was the federal interior minister and he needed to leave for Islamabad immediately.

The case was then adjourned till June 25. On the other hand, the court also sought a reply from the ANF about Sanaullah’s frozen accounts and properties. ANF has accused Sanaullah of engaging in the drug business for the last decade.

He was arrested by the ANF team when he was travelling from Lahore to Faisalabad.
