The Girl Of Sukkur

We have seen that many parents lost their lives before their children mature, and things got harsh when the uneducated family lost the only breadwinner of the family. A girl from a sukkur lost her father at a very young age, and at that time, they were living in Karachi. Her father was a vegetable seller and was hit by a car. She got her dead body after 3 days. How bad the pain was. This girl now has an ill mother and her youngest sister to take care of. He had no relatives in Karachi, so when he lost all hope, she went back to Sukkur because it seemed very hard for her to live in Karachi, where everyone knew that this young girl had no one to take care of. How proud society is! This shows the dynamics of society.

Fast forward: she lost her father seven years ago, and in her teenage years, she’s taken responsibility for her home. She works as a domestic maid in the village of Sukkur. She doesn’t have a brick home (Pakka gahr), due to which, in the rain, she lost her home. Now she is living in the slum. Things got harder day by day for her. I met her in the hospital at DUHS, where she came with her mom, as her mom was a patient with CLD and PSE. Chronic liver disease and portosystemic encephalopathy. How unfair the life was with her. She lost hope. Now, her only reason to live is because of her mom. All the way from Sukkur, she came to Karachi as her mother’s health was deteriorating. The healthcare sector wasn’t advanced enough to treat her mom, so with bare feet, she came to Karachi for the treatment. She was accompanied by her only sister. (THE NAME IS NOT DISCLOSED DUE TO PRIVACY.) With the help of the Zakat program at DUHS, she treated her mom, and today, October 11, 2023, she is leaving for Sukkur again.

At the time of discharge, the only question she was asking was from the doctor. Which doctor will be good for my mom in Sukkur if my mom falls ill again? The doctor asked her not to wait for anyone and immediately came here. The command was very strenuous from the doctor, but will that girl be able to make it to Karachi again? She worked as a domestic worker and lived in the slum area. Due to heavy rain and the blessings of climate change, she lost her only home. Did the government of Sindh make a home for her? I loved being confronted with her and saw her enthusiasm because she took care of her sister. Her sister was around 14 years old. She went to school because her oldest sister asked her to get an education. How powerful the lady was because she took care of the whole house and fulfilled all possible responsibilities. She cried loudly in the hospital that I don’t want home, just like others. All I want is my mom’s good health because she is the only human left in this universe who cares for me. The way she takes care of her mom is remarkable. How life was unfair to the people.

The story doesn’t end here. As an uneducated girl, she has to work in homes just to get a few bucks because she thinks that her dream is to give education to her little sister. Her sister was very sharp as I talked to her. She is studying at the government school, but when I talked to her, She replied to me in a well-mannered way. These two girls have shown resilience. Her maternal uncle wasn’t talking to them because she was going to school. For my maternal uncle, this is very inappropriate to give an education to a girl. These are the illogical norms that add thick layers of obstacles to women’s lives. She wasn’t able to earn well because she is uneducated, but she is trying her best to give quality education to her younger sister, besides this, she is a true worrier who took her mom all over from Sukkur to Karachi with no money but with Big Hope.

This story illustrates how rude people are Due to climate change, that girl lost her home. Due to uncertainty, she lost her father. She is the girl (her gender) who added a thick layer of obstacles to her life. She is working hard as a domestic worker to give quality education to her younger sister, but her uncle, despite helping them, is just taunting her with bad words. The girl who has nothing but resilience and resilience shows that with the will, we can achieve anything. The only request from my side to the government of Sindh is to build houses for the homeless. They have already suffered a lot, and they will suffer more if this thing isn’t taken into account.
