Three Congo virus cases reported, two dead, one critical

Rawalpindi: An outbreak of the deadly Congo virus has been reported in the twin cities with three patients brought to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) from Attock this month. Two patients have died and one is in critical condition.

In response to the Congo virus spread, the movement of livestock from Attock to other areas has been banned. This month three Congo virus patients were brought to BBH Rawalpindi from Attock, two have died and one remains in critical condition.

Doctors have stated that the Congo virus is lethal with only a 10% chance of recovery. The virus is transmitted from animals to humans and from human to human. Symptoms include bleeding from gums, nose and in stool as well as high fever. Doctors emphasized that Congo virus patients are kept under intensive care.
