Torrential rains in KP claim five lives, injure eight: PDMA

A recent report has highlighted the tragic toll of heavy rains across various districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as three men and two women lost their lives, while five children, two men, and one woman sustained injuries.

The devastation extended to property as well, with a total of 14 houses damaged, one completely and 13 partially.

The affected districts include Bajaur, Batagram, Mansehra, Buner, Dir Upper, and Lower, where the torrential downpour led to both loss of life and financial hardships for the residents.

Despite the grim situation, efforts are underway to provide relief to those affected, with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and other relevant agencies leading the relief activities.

In anticipation of further rainfall, the Meteorological Office has issued forecasts indicating continued precipitation across several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the next 24 hours. Areas such as Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, and Swabi are expected to bear the brunt of the showers, with additional cities like Abbottabad, Kohistan, and Haripur likely to experience lighter rainfall.

The forecast also raises concerns about the possibility of hailstorms in some regions, prompting authorities to remain vigilant against potential landslides and flooding in streams.

To coordinate emergency responses, PDMA’s Emergency Operation Center remains fully operational, urging individuals to report any incidents promptly by dialing 1700. With the combined efforts of government agencies and the community, there’s hope for swift recovery and assistance to those affected by the adverse weather conditions.
