US appoints Urdu-speaking Margaret MacLeod as London spokesperson

The US State Department has selected Margaret MacLeod as a spokesperson in London to improve communication with South Asian communities.

Fluent in Urdu and Hindi, she acquired proficiency during diplomatic assignments in India and Pakistan.

MacLeod, an experienced American diplomat currently stationed in the US Embassy’s International Media Hub, actively engages with South Asian media, focusing on India and Pakistan.

Holding a doctorate in Sustainable Development from Columbia University, she has served in diverse overseas roles.

In her videos which surfaced on social media, MacLeod passionately discusses her experience in Pakistan and her dedication to learning both literal and colloquial Urdu.
