USC set to secure 70,000 tonnes of sugar prior to Ramadan

The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has chosen to acquire 70,000 tons of sugar ahead of Ramzan Sharif, with bids from interested parties being accepted until January 30. The tender will be opened on the same day.

While the USC already has a one-month supply of sugar, the extra acquisition is intended to assure adequate availability during Ramzan Sharif.

The USC had previously purchased 40,000 metric tons of sugar in November at a rate of Rs124.90/kg, which was Rs10.37/kg less than the previous tender, with the total cost reaching Rs138.
