We recognize constitutional limits, urge others to adhere to constitution, says COAS

Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir emphasized the importance of respecting constitutional restrictions on freedom of expression, noting that those who disregard these limitations cannot criticize others.

He made these remarks while speaking at the passing-out parade of Pakistan Air Force cadets at the Asghar Khan Academy in Risalpur as the chief guest. General Munir delivered an inspiring speech to the graduating cadets, highlighting Article 19 of the Constitution, which defines the boundaries of freedom of speech and expression.

He underscored the cadets’ role in defending the nation’s skies and promoting regional unity, emphasizing their significance as the hope of the nation and the guardians of the skies. General Munir stressed the importance of character, courage, and competence in their military careers, urging them to uphold these virtues and make extraordinary contributions to both personal ethics and the esteemed institution.

Addressing the cadets directly, he emphasized their duty to make sacrifices for the defense, honor, and dignity of the motherland, expecting them to uphold the nation’s finest spirit and the professionalism and bravery of the institution throughout their careers.

Furthermore, General Munir cautioned against disregarding constitutional boundaries on freedom of speech and expression while expecting adherence to constitutional principles from all quarters. He emphasized the military’s awareness of its constitutional limits and called for others to prioritize compliance with the Constitution.

Touching on regional security dynamics, he warned of the destabilizing effects of the arms race and the evolving nature of air power due to advancements in technology. He stressed the crucial role of a strong air force in deterring aggression, commending the Pakistan Air Force for consistently meeting national expectations.

Reflecting on the Pakistan Air Force’s valor and professionalism, General Munir praised their unwavering commitment to duty, citing examples such as their courageous actions during the February 2019 conflict.

Additionally, he condemned indiscriminate violence in conflicts like the Gaza war and reiterated Pakistan’s support for the oppressed, especially in Kashmir.
