New York: WhatsApp has started testing a feature to convert voice messages into text, according to updates from the messaging app.
Initially, access to the testing phase has been limited to a small number of users. Under this feature, users will no longer need to listen to voice messages or audio files. Instead they can obtain the textual content of the audio or voice message with a single click.
Initially, the feature will provide text content from voice messages in limited languages. However, additional languages may be included . WhatsApp has commenced testing this feature in five languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Hindi.
The feature is being developed with support from artificial intelligence (AI) to convert voice messages or audios into text and is expected to undergo further enhancements in the future. WhatsApp experts have been working on this feature since last year and testing has now begun.
