Who is Justice Ijazul Ahsan?

Supreme Court Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan was born in Murree on August 5, 1960. He obtained his primary and secondary schooling at Lahore. He was accepted to Forman Christian College in Lahore in 1975 and graduated in 1979 with a merit scholarship.

He enrolled in the Punjab University Law College in Lahore, where he received several honors, including a gold medal for academic accomplishment. He also won first place in the All Pakistan Universities Summer Moot, which was organized by the Higher Education Commission at Khanas Pur, Nathia Gali.

He entered law practice after finishing his LL.B studies and finished his apprenticeship in civil and criminal law. He then went on to undertake post-graduate studies at Cornell University in New York, USA. He earned a Master of Laws degree in 1987.

On September 15, 2009, his lordship was elevated to the Lahore High Court. On May 11, 2011, he was confirmed as a judge of the Lahore High Court. On November 6, 2015, he was appointed Chief Judge of the Lahore High Court. On June 28, 2016, His Lordship was appointed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan as a Judge.
