Woman ‘raped’ in Punjab Institute of Cardiology

According to police reports, a staff member allegedly raped a woman by promising expedited heart surgery for her father, who is currently admitted to the Pakistan Institute of Cardiology (PIC).

Upon the woman’s complaint, the suspect was arrested, and a case was registered against him. The police have initiated further investigations following the medical examination of the rape victim.

In a related incident, a mother was reportedly raped in the x-ray room of the government-run Benazir Bhutto Hospital in Rawalpindi. The police registered a case under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code after the woman’s medical examination confirmed the assault.

The first information report (FIR) details that the complainant was called to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital on Murree Road by the main suspect. He took her into the x-ray room where his accomplice, a hospital employee, was present.
