Actor, director, producer and singer Yasir Akhtar seems to be making a full-fledged comeback in the showbiz industry. The versatile artist, who has been known for producing trailblazers like French Toast and Mera Ghar Aik Whirlpool for Pakistan Television back in the 90s took to Facebook and Instagram to share a few photos of himself with PTV’s senior members. The photos were captioned, “New Beginnings!” followed by a thank you note to the entire team of Pakistan Television, from the MD and director programs to controller programs and a senior director of the channel.
Akhtar added that his production house, Pegasus Productions is collaborating with the government channel to “announce the launch of a new wave of films called “Multinational Films” on PTV from November 2021”.
In his music videos such as O My Love, O Sanam and dramatic directorial works such as Sard Aag, Lahaasil and Jaayen Kahan Armaan, Akhtar has always experimented, be it in the form of choosing fresh faces or going for new locations. This time too, news is it that Akhtar will be shooting these films both inside and outside Pakistan, with actors belonging to both his country of origin and Britain, where he has been residing for quite a few years now.
With an inspirational, creative director and producer like Akhtar working for PTV, it is hoped that the once loved channel will see a revival with high budgeted and star-studded projects.
