Yusuf Raza Gilani weighs government alliance amid center and Punjab prospects

Yusuf Raza Gilani, Chairman Senate and Acting President, has revealed ongoing discussions with PML-N regarding potential government collaboration.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Gilani emphasized the importance of inclusive decision-making among all stakeholders. He cited the People’s Party’s consistent participation in National Security meetings, even during Imran Khan’s tenure, underscoring their commitment to constructive engagement.

Reflecting on past governance achievements, Gilani highlighted his administration’s successful management during challenging times, including addressing floods and facilitating agricultural exports. He noted initiatives such as setting wheat prices according to global market rates, effectively curbing wheat smuggling, and ensuring farmers’ welfare.

Gilani also addressed current concerns regarding wheat procurement, acknowledging the inquiry into alleged malpractices. He pledged full cooperation with the government on commendable initiatives while affirming a steadfast commitment to support without betrayal.

Regarding potential government collaboration, Gilani affirmed ongoing discussions with PML-N and the formation of a committee for further deliberations. He expressed openness to negotiations with all parties and emphasized the necessity of their involvement in legislative processes, particularly in Punjab.
