Zico and Blackpink’s Jennie’s ‘spot!’ collaboration makes a strong comeback, topping charts

Rapper Zico’s recent collaboration with Blackpink’s Jennie on the track “Spot!” has marked a triumphant return for the rapper, garnering positive feedback both domestically and internationally, particularly on various music charts.

This digital single release, which occurred last Friday, signifies Zico’s first musical endeavor in nearly two years since his last release, “Grown Ass Kid,” back in July 2022. “Spot!” blends together catchy melodies and a straightforward rhythm, complemented by Zico’s dynamic rap verses and Jennie’s powerful vocal delivery. The song encapsulates the narrative of two acquaintances unexpectedly crossing paths at a late-night gathering.

Notably, Zico’s agency, KOZ Entertainment, has reported that “Spot!” swiftly ascended to the top position on three distinct charts – new releases, rising, and hot trends – on China’s leading music streaming platform, QQ Music, by Saturday at 7 p.m. Additionally, following its release at 6 p.m. on Friday, the song quickly climbed to prominent positions on several domestic music charts.

Speaking through his agency shortly after the song’s debut, Zico expressed his thoughts on “Spot!,” highlighting its appeal lies in the innate excitement evoked by its simple arrangement and the seamless collaboration between himself and Jennie. He stated his intention to craft a song that remains engaging throughout, deliberately stripping away unnecessary elements and amplifying key aspects.

Commemorating his solo debut’s 10th anniversary, Zico is poised to embark on various endeavors following the release of “Spot!” Recently, he commenced his role as the new host of the late-night KBS music talk show “The Seasons,” marking a significant step in his career.

Furthermore, Zico is slated to grace the stage at the upcoming Hiphopplaya Festival at Nanji Hangang Park in Seoul on May 4th, further solidifying his presence in the music scene.
