5°C above normal temperatures forecasted in Pakistan this week

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts temperatures up to 5 degrees Celsius higher than normal in Pakistan this week.

High pressure in the upper atmosphere, particularly in the southern half of the country, will persist.

Additionally, a westerly wave is expected to enter the western parts on May 10th, spreading to the upper parts by May 11th. This weather system will lead to temperatures 2-5°C above normal during the week, with rain, wind, and thunderstorms expected to bring relief over the weekend.

In Balochistan, day temperatures are forecasted to be 3-5°C above normal from May 8th to 10th, with rain, wind, and thunderstorms expected in various areas on May 10th and 11th. Similar conditions are predicted for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad, and Sindh during the specified period, with temperatures also expected to be 3-5°C above normal. Rain, wind, and thunderstorms are anticipated in different regions during this time.

The public is advised to adjust crop watering and wheat harvesting accordingly, and to minimize exposure to direct sunlight. Windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning may disrupt daily routines and affect standing crops, electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels.
